Mary Cummins real estate appraiser Los Angeles, California. Las Damas, Beverly Hilton, Animal Advocates

My biological mother at age 20 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel for the Spanish heritage ball. She's wearing a mantilla over a peineta with traditional decorative Spanish hand fan. The mantilla is made of lace. The peineta is made of tortoiseshell. This is mainly worn for religious practice of Roman Catholics. This is from the newspaper, October 12, 1961.

"A PERFECT size 10, J***** Cummins Makes Bow to Society at Deb Ball. J***** Cummins was one of 26 debutantes who made their bow to society Friday night at the 20th anniversary Las Damas Debutante Ball in the International Ballroom of the Beverly Hilton Hotel. She is the daughter of the late Mr. Robert Clay Cummins and of Mrs. Cummins the former Mary Rivera Baz, whose family for generations has been important in the political and professional history of Mexico. Miss Cummins was presented by Dr. Adrian Hartog, consul general of The Netherlands; her escort was James Douglas Bennett. An honor student al USC, she is majoring in foreign service diplomacy, specializing in Brazil and Mexico. She is secretary of the senior class which numbers 5,300 students. To highlight the international aspect of the ball, two other members of the Los Angeles Consular Corps participated. Wadih Dib, consul of Lebanon, presented his daughter Gloria. Proceeds from the ball help maintain the Divine Providence Nursery, supervised by Sisters of Company Mary."

I don't think everything written in the above article was true. She did go to USC and majored in international studies. She's not listed as secretary in her yearbook. She's listed only as a student with no other interests, no photos.

Mary Cummins of Animal Advocates is a wildlife rehabilitator licensed by the California Department of Fish and Game. Mary Cummins is also a licensed real estate appraiser in Los Angeles, California.
